"Had I been reading to children and had my top aide whispered in my ear, `America is under attack,' I would have told those kids very politely and nicely that the president of the United States had something that he needed to attend to," Kerry said.

Flight 93 hijacker: 'Shall we finish it off?'

The passengers continued with their assault, trying to break through the cockpit door. At 10:02 a.m. and 23 seconds, a hijacker said, "Pull it down! Pull it down!"

"The hijackers remained at the controls but must have judged that the passengers were only seconds from overcoming them," the report concludes.

"The airplane headed down; the control wheel was turned hard to the right. The airplane rolled onto its back, and one of the hijackers began shouting, 'Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest.'

"With the sounds of the passenger counter-attack continuing, the aircraft plowed into an empty field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at 580 miles per hour, about 20 minutes' flying time from Washington, D.C." (CNN)

Bush Says He Answered All Questions From 9/11 Panel

Bush Says He Answered All Questions From 9/11 Panel--- The White House was repeatedly asked in advance of the session asked why Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney found it necessary to appear together before the panel; why they would not testify under oath, and why no formal transcript would be made.
Mr. McClellan, in his latest replies to such queries, sought to portray the appearance of Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney as informal and informational, rather than confrontational.
"This is a good opportunity for the president and vice president to sit down together with the commission," Mr. McClellan said. "This is not an adversarial process. We're all working together to learn the lessons of Sept. 11."

Bush undergoes 9/11 questioning

Bush undergoes 9/11 questioning---(Bush and Cheney) were not under oath and no recording was made at the private meeting at the White House which lasted more than three hours. (BBC)
What a sad fucking joke. Bush and Cheney refused to appear under oath or have their testimonies recorded. Sounds like they really have nothing to hide. Nixon was an open book compared to these guys. Sadder yet, a large part of America still thinks that Bush is a down home straight-shooter who was called to do God's will. God bless America, the land of the pridefully ignorant. Is it too early to start drinking? The headmaster weeps for our children.

Many American still hold misperceptions about Iraq war, poll finds

Many Americans still hold misperceptions about Iraq war, poll finds---A new poll shows that 57 percent of Americans continue to believe that Saddam Hussein gave "substantial support" to al-Qaida terrorists before the war with Iraq, despite a lack of evidence of that relationship.
In addition, 45 percent of Americans have the impression that "clear evidence" was found that Iraq worked closely with Osama bin Laden's network, and a majority believe that before the war Iraq either had weapons of mass destruction (38 percent) or a major program for developing them (22 percent).
There's no known evidence to date that these statements are true.

McKinney: 9 / 11 Probe to Justify Comments

McKinney: 9 / 11 Probe to Justify Comments---``The Bush administration keeps giving us answers that don't answer, explanations that don't explain, and conclusions that don't conclude,'' McKinney said in Friday's interview.
She praised the 10-member commission examining pre-Sept. 11 intelligence failures and said she found ``absolutely riveting'' the testimony by former counterterrorism chief Richard Clarke, who depicted Bush as focused on invading Iraq, even when told that country had nothing to do with the attacks.

9/11 Panel Points to Missed Chances

9/11 Panel Points to Missed Chances---The commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks has concluded that the hijackers would probably have postponed their strike if the U.S. government had announced the arrest of suspected terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui in August 2001 or had publicized fears that he intended to hijack jetliners...The FAA was warned Sept. 4 about Moussaoui's clumsy attempts to learn to fly jetliners, but it never warned the airlines or the public.

Bush Began to Plan War Three Months After 9/11

Bush Began to Plan War Three Months After 9/11---Woodward describes a relationship between Cheney and Secretary of State Colin L. Powell that became so strained Cheney and Powell are barely on speaking terms. Cheney engaged in a bitter and eventually winning struggle over Iraq with Powell, an opponent of war who believed Cheney was obsessively trying to establish a connection between Iraq and the al Qaeda terrorist network and treated ambiguous intelligence as fact...Before the war with Iraq, Powell bluntly told Bush that if he sent U.S. troops there "you're going to be owning this place." Powell and his deputy and closest friend, Richard L. Armitage, used to refer to what they called "the Pottery Barn rule" on Iraq: "You break it, you own it," according to Woodward. (Washington Post)
